Challenge

Birkenstock was seeing strong growth across fashion-forward, streetwear, and classicist shoppers, but had a strategic blind spot among better-street retailers: JD Sports, SNIPES, Courir, Sizeer. The brand needed to see where its biggest opportunities and barriers sat in those rooms, and how to build relevance there without softening its premium positioning or heritage.

INSIGHT

NERDS pinpointed the Style Seeker as the clearest way in: a creatively informed, fashion-forward mainstream shopper who uses attainable, culturally charged brands to craft and express a personal identity. Birkenstock’s comfort and timeless design were powerful assets, but the brand risked reading too cosy, earthy and conservative for street-led retail unless it recalibrated its cultural expression.

Strategy

We built a cultural selling proposition and a retailer-by-retailer playbook for Birkenstock’s better-street partners. We mapped the consumer across JD Sports, SNIPES, Courir and Sizeer, drew up target profiles, and set out exactly how Birkenstock could land through product, styling, creative direction and the right touchpoints.
